Over the last few weeks I’ve been looking at some of my favourite blogs and been inspired by some of the bargain ‘finds’ some ladies have found on the weekly supermarket run!
Rachel Turone did a review of George at Asda a couple of weeks ago and I loved the outfit she styled for the review so much that I went out and bought the denim shirt dress and cosy caramel coloured waterfall cardigan – sadly both seem to have sold out online and are no longer on the website. This prompted me to have a look more closely at the supermarket ranges. It’s not something I usually do, but I’ve been really impressed at how they’ve all upped their game recently.
The leather biker boots pictured with the shirt dress are from Clarks.
Other items worn include: Boots from Clarks and blanket scarf from Monsoon.
I went back to George at Asda for another shirt dress. This time a plum coloured check version. I especially love how easy the casual shirt dresses are to wear. They will go with skinny jeans and converse sneakers or with opaque tights and biker boots. The options are unlimited.
Other items worn include: Leather knee-high boots (Marks and Spencer) and necklace (Joules).
I also had a look in Sainsburys around the same time as Tracey of The Naughty Forty Diaries was also drawn to the Tu at Sainsburys range. I did look at the tweedy/tartan mini skirts Tracey looked at but decided even my legs in opaque tights couldn’t cope with a very short skirt. However, I did find the most outstanding blackwatch tartan skinny trousers in a kind of fine cord material. They are super stylish and really really comfortable! I can’t find them on their website, but I hope you can find some in store!
Other items are: Navy cashmere jumper (Pure Collection), Necklace (Alice’s Wonders), Ankle Boots (Marks and Spencer)
I went back a few days later to Sainsburys and found this great yellow and grey spotty full skirt! I really love this and it’s going to go great with the mustard yellow cowl neck/batwing jumper I recently bought from Autograph at Marks and Spencer. I’m going to team these with grey opaque tights (£6 – also from Sainsburys) and the grey suede knee high boots I got a few Christmases ago (Marks and Spencer). All I now need to complete that look is the Mango grey suede slouchy bag that on my wishlist……
Whilst in Sainsbury’s I also grabbed this khaki utility shirt which I’m loving with burgundy accessories. What a great colour combination. This was inspired by an old silk scarf that I bought when I was a teenager and still own (and wear) 30 years on! It’s a really good Autumnal look!
And finally, I’ve just received another waterfall cardigan from Florence & Fred at Tesco! At £16 it was a bargain and comes in other great colours so I may end up going back for more! I was going to sell a dress online, but thought I’d revive it with this lovely cardigan and team it with a tan belt to cinch in the waist, tan knee high boots and my lovely tan Mulberry Bayswater bag.
Have you had any style stars from a supermarket fashion collection? I’d love to hear about what you’ve particularly loved!
