So, whilst the sun has continued to shine in the UK, long after the kids have gone back to school, I’ve been wearing what I would class as transitional outfits. It’s too warm for all-out winter woollies, but not warm enough for summer dresses and shorts!
So I thought I’d run through some of my recent outfits.
This one is so easy to wear and the finishing touch, as the days become just that little bit cooler, is this great Jigsaw poncho from the current AW15 collection. This is a great outfit for running around doing jobs and visiting my uncle whilst still trying to look smart and ‘pulled together’! I love the classic teaming up of navy and tan and ‘go to’ Breton stripes. Other new purchases are the Seasalt Breton top and the lovely, comfy tan leather Chelsea boots from Marks and Spencer.
I particularly like the fact that Marks and Spencer make their shoes in half sizes and in a wide fit for a lot of footwear styles. I think most people would say that they don’t conform to a standard shoe size and where retailers accommodate this it really does help us to be kinder to our feet. I like that these are a great quality leather, look really stylish and have a slight heel to support the arch of the foot. Thumbs up M&S!
I bought this kimono style burgundy jacket from Massimo Dutti in September and it’s becoming a firm favourite. I’ve already got a lot of wear out of it which is making it’s ‘cost per wear’ ratio very favourable! I’ve teamed it here with some old favourites – Clarks boots, Louis Vuitton bag, M&S jeans and Moda in Pelle scarf.
Here’s the Massimo Dutti jacket making another outing, this time with my favourite Boden AW15 purchase this print square tee. Unfortunately, it’s now sold out in this colourway in all sizes, so I’m really pleased I bought it when I did. I’m finishing this look with my new Boden leopard print slip-on trainers.
Here you can see the top in more detail. It really is another favourite which is getting a lot of wear. I must also mention the Jones the Bootmaker clutch, which I absolutely love!
I’ve also rediscovered an old tan leather jacket that was lurking in the wardrobe when I had a clear out. I’m trying to get some more wear out of this and have teamed it with my tan leather knee-high boots from Marks and Spencer, jeans and a burgundy jumper from Jaeger. I finished it off with a burgundy and tan print silk scarf I’ve had for a few years. I think it looks OK, so I’m trying to bring the jacket out more.
Double denim is really popular at the moment. In fact, denim full stop. I’ve noticed many of my favourite bloggers embracing denim recently. I was so impressed with Rachel The Hat’s blog post about the George at Asda denim shirt dress she bought recently that I also went and bought one. Hopefully, I’ll post a pic of that soon. However, here I’m going ‘double denim’ with tan. Dark blue jeans with a slightly lighter denim shirt (both from Marks and Spencer) with Clarks boots, Mulberry oak Bayswater bag and one of my favourite snoods from Marks and Spencer (which is a good few years old now!).
And finally, for now, a cute, green print dress from Indigo at Marks and Spencer, teamed with Clarks boots and opaque tights and a new bottle green tie-waist cardigan from H&M.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my early Autumn outfits. I’ll be doing a ‘colder weather’ post when the weather cools down a bit. I’ve also got a lot of conferences and work events coming up in the next few weeks and months so I’m hoping to do a post on work wear.
How have you been dressing in this changeable early Autumn weather? I’d love to hear from you!
